RAC Update – 9/5/2006
The masons from Price Masonry continue to excavate trenches in the cellar and underpin sections of the foundation. Currently they have almost finished one of the two circular, brick sleeves under the foundation of the east exterior wall. Additionally, they are underpinning the western side of the c. 1764 northern exterior wall. The roughly 30, 30’ steel I-beam pilings to support the bunker are also almost all installed.
M-106 (North Passage) and M-109 (South Passage)
Blaise Gaston has delivered the double-leaf doors for the western doorways of both of these spaces.
M-108 (Drawing Room)
Keith is replacing the duPont era heating grate holes cut in the Drawing Room floor with new heart pine flooring.
M-112 (Nelly’s Dining Room)
Steve and Mac continue to lay the new heart pine floors in the dining room with Les undercutting each board.
Austin continues to work on the eastern truss in the portico (when not helping with the Red Room re-installation) and the plywood walk boards for the HVAC duct work are being installed on the western side of the king post trusses..
Thomas continues to apply the second coat of stain to the shingles. He is still on the eastern slope.
Blaise Gaston continues to fabricate the railings in his shop.
Red Room and duPont Gallery
The shelving for the Red Room is being re-assembled and Ray Cannetti continues to re-assemble the marble mantels from the Adam Room and Breakfast room in the new duPont Gallery.
